A Peekaboo walkthrough
Tropic to Bryce Canyon - and Fairyland Loop On Tuesday we had breakfast with Fairweather and then checked out of our motel. Yeti dropped me off at the Tropic Trail trail head. This is the path into Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park. It's less than 4 miles but gets to be a strong uphill climb by the time you enter the park. I saw no one on the Tropic Trail, but once I got to the park boundary...it was a zoo. I'd be doing one part of the Navajo Loop which is popular, so lots of people. Already great views - typical of Bryce with the red and multi-colored rocks and hoodoos.
Yeti met me up at the top at Sunrise Point and we checked into Ruby's RV Park.
Wednesday: the plan is to do Fiaryland Loop, an 8 mile loop through a deep canyon. Yeti had had a rough night and got no sleep so he opted out. His CHF is giving him some problmes.
This loop trail is amazing: great trail and fabulous terrain. Hoodoos, red rock, sandy colored rock, white rock. All shapes and sizes. I still saw about 40 people in all, fewer than the day before. The views are breathtaking. There are trees in the canyon, though the scrubby variety. The trail winds up and down through the maze of Hoodoos and peekaboo rocks.
The path joins the Rim trail and while it too has some steep sections, it does begin to get more moderate. Views from up here are also dramatic.
Back to Ruby's for a shower and food!
