Wed Sep 9 I’m glad we made the decision to re-route today. The morning started out gloomy; thunderstorms, fog, heavy rain. Breakfast oddly was minimal. After the great dinner, we expected a feast and it was only bread and jam, coffee, and juice. We would be hiking down with the two other guys and a woman who asked if she could hike with us to Zoldo. Two brave souls decided to make the attempt to do the high route (in the end, they abandoned it and also hiked down to Zoldo). Within 5 minutes of our start down the gravel road the heavens opened up. It rained and thundered all the way to Zoldo. Luckily, at the square where we were to meet Monttrekking was a café. It was full of all the soaked hikers who had come down from Malga Pramper and also a guided Monttrekking group that had been in the rifugio part way up the mountain from Malga Pramper! They had also bailed on the original route! Anyway, we were so glad to be in a warm spot where we got hot drinks and food! At noon, Monttrekking arrived and we were off to Belluno and Hotel Alpi.

We had a great pasta meal with Richard, Darryl, Ron and C. (two Dutch guys we’d met) in Belluno. Our room was really nice, great showers, and we had a lovely time on our last night on our trek! A fabulous experience, nice people, and Monttrekking certainly came through for us.
