Aligning Cabinets With Laser

Week of July 22nd

The cabinets are a tricky part of the job. It turns out walls in the kitchen are not necessarily totally “square” and straight, so Chris and Zack had to do a bit of maneuvering to fit the cabinets where the fridge goes. Also, the cabinet that goes over the microwave was not correct (the depth was off and it would have not been flush with the other cabinets). At first, we thought we would have to re-order it (it might have taken 3 weeks to get it), but Chris said they could cut it down to size and it would look great. This cabinet gets a bunch of holes punched into it anyway: a vent, the microwave vent and electrical connection all feed through it. So, it should be fine. We don’t put much in it either. Monteriors is not going to charge us for that cabinet. So, hopefully that will work out fine.

I love the way the new farmhouse sink looks in the cabinet, too. The colors are all going nicely. The sink is a “gun-metal” black – sort of a matte stainless look.

The template guys are coming on Friday to measure for the quartz countertops. They will do the kitchen and the bathroom, so the vanities in the bathroom have to go back in as well. Lots to do this week.

Anthony from the Monteriors fabrication shop came to measure the countertops and bathroom vanity tops and backsplash. He’ll submit a template drawing which we will have to approve so it can be started.
