Mon Sep 14 Love this neighborhood; it’s charming, typical windy streets and quiet. This morning we took it easy and had breakfast in the apartment. We headed off to an 11am tour at the Doge Palace, located at St. Mark's Square. The square was crowded with tourists – like a zoo. We had a tour at the Palace, which was a bit overwhelming. The ornate style is not my thing. We found a nice lunch place a bit away from the fray. La Serenissima. It had good food and was not too crowded. Our tickets for St. Mark's Basilica were at 3pm. It’s famous for its impressive mosaics, which were amazing. I just toured the church, but Desiree had a ticket for the museum. I headed back to the apartment. We ate a light supper at the apartment. I’m glad tomorrow is going to be more easy-going. St. Mark’s Square was too much!
